Luminik vs Popl: universal lead capture, or the whole event pipeline
Popl is the strongest capture-and-enrich tool in the category. Luminik connects the same badge scan to the sourcing before it and the attribution after it.
Choose Luminik if
You want the scan to be one step in a motion that started with sourcing the right attendees and ends with sourced-vs-influenced pipeline on the Opportunity, with your own enrichment vendors and sequencer seats doing the work.
Choose Popl if
Your problem is capture volume: hundreds of reps scanning at dozens of events, resolved into full records by licensed data partners, with uncapped usage and enterprise IT controls (Okta, Azure SAML). They document eight CRM integrations separately, each with field mapping, sync logic, and a test-lead guide.
What Popl is
In their own words, Popl is “your AI GTM platform for in-person events,” with “universal badge scanning that works at every event and syncs to any CRM.” Capture happens by camera OCR of badges, cards, and QR codes, so it needs no organizer hardware or APIs, and records resolve through 20+ licensed data partners. In July 2026 they announced data partnerships with Apollo and RocketReach inside two weeks, a clear bet on owning the enrichment layer.
They also ship Event Intelligence (which CRM contacts attend events), list enrichment, an AI recorder, and Ask Popl, which exposes event and CRM data inside Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot. The digital business card line that started the company still ships and still feeds distribution.
The five stages, side by side
Full, partial, and not offered are defined in how these pages are written.
| Stage | Luminik | Popl |
|---|---|---|
| Source Find the right events and people before committing spend | Full Open event catalogue with verified dates, venues, speakers, sponsors, CFP windows; ICP-matched from your CRM | Partial Event Intelligence surfaces which of your existing CRM contacts attend events; no published event database, no event-selection product |
| Enrich Turn names into actionable records | Full Your own Apollo or Cognism contract at your rate, with the coverage numbers your vendor publishes to you. No third-party partner list to take on faith | Full The strongest bundled enrichment in the category: 20+ licensed partners including Apollo and RocketReach, 97%+ claimed coverage |
| Sequence Outreach before and after the event | Full Ranked targets land in the sequencer seats you already run: Apollo, Salesloft, Amplemarket, Lemlist, HubSpot, or Salesforce | Not offered Builds outreach lists; does not send. Handoff via CRM, Marketo, Pardot, or Zapier. No cadence product, no sequencer integration |
| Capture Booth conversations into the CRM the same day | Full Offline-first mobile capture with AI-native enhancement: per-field OCR confidence, voice notes to structured next steps, matched to your sourced targets and landing in the CRM the same day | Full Their center of gravity: universal OCR badge, card, and QR scanning that works at any event without organizer APIs |
| Attribute Prove sourced and influenced pipeline | Full Sourced vs influenced split on Opportunity fields you name, written back within 48 hours | Partial Ask Popl computes event ROI, win rates, and cost-per-lead on demand through an AI query surface; no standing multi-event attribution program published |

What it costs
Every figure here carries its source and the date we read it.
Popl
Team pricing is not published; a sales call is required. What their pricing page does publish is the shape: pricing is “all-inclusive”, with no charge “extra per user, per seat, or per license”, and no per-scan or per-credit consumption fees, as listed on their pricing page, August 2026. The one listed figure sits on Capterra: a starting price of $7.99 per user per month, with a free version and a free trial, as listed on their Capterra vendor profile, August 2026. That figure is the individual digital business card app, not the team event product.
Luminik
Starter is $299 a month, Growth is $799 a month, Scale starts at $1,999 a month, all on the pricing page. Annual billing is pay for 10 months and get 12. No per-seat fees on any tier.
Neither product charges per seat, so the difference is publication: Luminik's tier prices are on the page, and Popl's are quoted per account.
When Popl is the better choice
- Capture volume is your bottleneck: many reps, many events, and you want every scan resolved to a full record without negotiating per-event lead-retrieval APIs.
- You need enterprise IT controls on day one: Okta SAML, Azure SAML, and Active Directory import are published, shipped features.
- Uncapped pricing matters to you: their published policy is no per-seat, per-scan, or per-credit fees, which is genuinely rare in this category.
When Luminik is the better choice
- The event decision itself is part of your problem. Popl tells you which CRM contacts attend; Luminik's catalogue helps you pick the events, then builds the target list through first-party sourcing against your ICP.
- Your follow-up runs on Apollo, Salesloft, Amplemarket, or Lemlist seats. Popl hands lists to CRM and MAP; Luminik lands ranked targets in the sequences your team already runs.
- Your CFO wants a standing sourced-and-influenced number per event program. Luminik writes both to Opportunity fields your RevOps team names, within 48 hours from event end, so the figure is there before anyone asks for it.
Questions buyers ask
Isn't Popl mostly a digital business card company?
That is where they started, and the distribution it built is real: they state 4M+ professionals across 90% of the Fortune 500. The B2B product today is an event lead-capture platform whose enrichment layer is documented down to the named data partners, Apollo and RocketReach, both announced July 2026.
What does Popl cost?
Popl deliberately does not publish pricing; their pricing page says they quote over a meeting. What they do publish is the shape: uncapped usage, unlimited users, events, and leads, no per-scan or per-credit fees. Luminik publishes its pricing on the pricing page.
Which tool scans badges better?
If badge scanning quality is the deciding factor, evaluate Popl seriously; universal OCR capture is their core product and their enrichment partnerships exist to resolve scans into full records. Luminik's capture is built for a different job: matching floor conversations to the targets you sourced weeks earlier, so attribution connects the whole motion.
Do they integrate with Outreach or Salesloft?
No, neither appears on Popl's integrations page (30+ tools, read on the verification date). Their motion hands lists to CRM and marketing automation. If your follow-up runs on sequencer seats, that gap is the operational difference to test.
