TL;DR: We ran 1,697 Money20/20 attendees through Luminik. More than half were director-level or above. Yes, it is worth it if you’re prepared.

What Money20/20 attendee data shows

The Money20/20 booth can feel productive while the buyer list is still unclear. A busy floor does not tell you whether the right risk, payments, banking, and product leaders are in reach.

A checklist for assessing your target list. This diagram is not a measured distribution of the historical sample.

Badge scans are not event leads

You came here to meet risk leaders at banks, heads of product at payments companies, and digital operations leads at fintechs.

Instead, you’ve got:

  • 9 conversations with “strategy analysts”
  • 4 salespeople from other vendors

High traffic with low fit is the hidden cost of a busy booth. So we took a subset of the Money20/20 attendee list (1,697 names), scored it in Luminik, and asked whether the event is worth it for fintech teams measured on pipeline.

What the attendee data tells us

Money20/20 attendee seniority breakdown

Seniority% of Total
C-suite37.2%
Director / VP15.7%
Manager17.5%
IC / Other25.5%
Unknown / Other4.1%

More than half of this 1,697-person sample were classified as director-level or above. The sample should not be read as the distribution of the entire event. These are the people who own budget and influence buying cycles.

What kinds of companies attend Money20/20?

The original sample analysis listed the following industry shares. They cover 92% of the sample, so this is a partial breakdown, not a complete distribution:

IndustryListed share of sample
Payments16.2%
Banking / Fintech13.3%
Consulting6.2%
SaaS / Tech5.2%
AI / ML4.5%
Other46.6%

The listed shares leave 8 percentage points unexplained. They should not be redistributed among the categories or projected onto a different event edition.

Where do these attendees come from?

Money20/20 is also an opportunity to expand geographically. Europe made up over 50% of the attendee list in the subset we analyzed, followed by North America and APAC.

A geographic sample alone cannot justify the spend. Check target-account fit, confirmed attendance and meeting capacity for the edition you plan to attend.

Plan Money20/20 as a campaign

Teams that get pipeline from Money20/20 plan around the event instead of waiting for traffic:

  • Run ICP matching 2-3 weeks before
  • Pre-book meetings with qualified leads
  • Launch follow-up outreach within 24 hours
  • Build sequences that pick up where the booth conversation left off

So, is Money20/20 worth it?

Yes, if you’re prepared.

The right people are there. You need a plan that:

  1. Starts with the attendee list.
  2. Scores for fit.
  3. Books meetings.
  4. Writes event context back to CRM.

The Money20/20 USA playbook has the current attendee profile, and the IDV fintech case study shows the plan run across 15 fintech events. More for fintech teams on the fintech industry page.
