Key takeaways
  • Dreamforce 2027 runs September 21 to 23 at Moscone Center in San Francisco and on Salesforce+. Salesforce says registration and the call for participation open in spring 2027.
  • Dreamforce is worth sponsoring when your buyers run Salesforce and you can book meetings with them before the event. Without pre-booked meetings, you pay sponsor prices for booth traffic.
  • Decide with cost per opportunity: the all-in cost divided by the opportunities you expect. If it is above what your other channels pay, attend and host a side event for named accounts.

Dreamforce 2027 is worth sponsoring when your buyers run Salesforce and you can book meetings with your target accounts before the event starts. Before you sign, answer 2 questions: how many of your target accounts will you meet there, and what will each opportunity cost?

Definition

Dreamforce

is Salesforce’s annual customer conference in San Francisco, held at Moscone Center and streamed on Salesforce+. The conference pass covers keynotes, breakout and theater sessions, workshops, roundtables, the welcome reception and Dreamfest. Partners and sponsors exhibit alongside the sessions.

Dreamforce 2027 dates and what Salesforce has published

Salesforce lists Dreamforce 2027 for September 21 to 23, 2027, at Moscone Center in San Francisco and on Salesforce+. Dreamforce 2026 ran September 15 to 17, 2026.

What the Dreamforce pages say about 2027:

  • Registration opens in spring 2027. The page asks visitors to join a list to get the lowest price when it opens.
  • The call for participation, for people who want to present, also opens in spring 2027.
  • Group passes are discounted and need at least 3 passes per order.
  • Hotel blocks open in spring.
  • Pass types include the conference pass and a Trailblazer Bootcamp pass with instructor-led training and a certification exam voucher.
  • Sponsorship prices are not published. Sponsors get them from Salesforce in a prospectus.

Who Dreamforce is worth it for

Dreamforce draws Salesforce customers, admins, developers, partners and Salesforce’s own sales and product teams. The fit depends on how close your product sits to that crowd.

Your company sellsFitWhy
Apps and services for Salesforce admins, RevOps or sales opsStrongYour buyer runs Salesforce and came to learn about it
Sales and revenue tools that sync with SalesforceStrongSales leaders and RevOps attend to plan next year’s tooling
Data, security or AI products for enterprises on SalesforceMixedBuyers attend, but spread across a large crowd
Products with no link to SalesforceWeakYou pay for a room where your buyer is a small share

Teams we interviewed describe the same split. A RevOps or sales tool vendor treats Dreamforce as a main event of the year. A finance software vendor called it an excellent event with the wrong buyer for them. A small consultancy described a booth there as a drop in the ocean.

The Dreamforce year, step by step

Most of the work happens before September. Plan backwards from the dates Salesforce has published.

Planning calendar
Dreamforce 2027, from budget to the next-year decision
  1. Step 1, Approve the budget (Q1 2027): All-in cost, target accounts, meeting goal and the CRM fields that will hold the result.
  2. Step 2, Register, book hotels (Spring 2027): Group passes, hotel block rooms near Moscone, the prospectus if you sponsor.
  3. Step 3, Submit a session (Spring 2027): Answer the call for participation with a customer story.
  4. Step 4, Book the side event (June): Restaurant or venue near Moscone for a dinner or reception.
  5. Step 5, Rank the list, book meetings (6 to 8 weeks out): Target accounts likely to attend, outreach from the reps who will be there.
  6. Step 6, Work the event (Sep 21 to 23): Meetings, booth and side event, every conversation captured with a note.
  7. Step 7, Follow up (Within 48 hours): A personal email from the rep who met them, naming the next step.
  8. Step 8, Attribute and decide (December): Sourced and influenced pipeline at 90 days, then sponsor, attend or skip in 2028.
Spring 2027 milestones are from Salesforce's Dreamforce FAQ. The other timings are a planning example for a sponsor.

Dreamforce sponsorship cost and ROI

Start with the sponsorship prospectus, then add everything the booth needs to produce meetings. List every line, so finance can check the budget:

Worked example
An all-in Dreamforce sponsor budget
  • Sponsorship package and booth space: $80,000 (53%). From the Salesforce prospectus
  • Booth design, build and shipping: $25,000 (17%)
  • Flights and hotel for the booth team: $20,000 (13%). September rates in San Francisco
  • Side event for target accounts: $15,000 (10%). Dinner or reception near Moscone
  • Passes beyond the package: $4,000 (3%)
  • Staff time away from selling: $6,000 (4%)
  • All-in cost: $150,000
Example inputs to show the shape of the budget. Salesforce does not publish sponsorship prices; replace each line with your quote.

One sponsor team we interviewed added 2 things the prospectus does not show: a private meeting room for all 3 days next to the booth, because the expo floor is loud, and one person whose whole job was managing the booth staff.

What to ask before you sign the sponsorship

The prospectus lists packages. These questions decide whether a package can produce meetings:

  1. What attendee data comes with this tier, and when? A list that arrives 2 weeks out leaves little time to book meetings.
  2. Where is the booth? Ask for the floor plan and traffic flow for the hall you are offered.
  3. Is there meeting space? Ask whether a private room is available near the booth, and its price.
  4. Which passes are included? Count them against the people you plan to send.
  5. What content slots come with the tier? A theater session or a listing in the agenda gives your outreach a subject.
  6. How many sponsors at this tier renew? Ask the sales contact, then ask peers who sponsored last year.

A worked example of the ROI math

Worked example
Cost per opportunity for a Dreamforce sponsorship
  1. Meetings booked before the event: 40. With target accounts likely to attend
  2. Meetings held: 32 (80% held)
  3. Opportunities created: 8 (25% of meetings)
  4. Cost per opportunity at $150,000 all-in: $18,750
Example inputs. The number that moves the answer most is meetings booked before the event.

Compare that $18,750 with what an opportunity costs you from paid search, outbound or a smaller event:

  • About the same or lower: sponsor, and protect the meeting calendar.
  • Higher: the booth is buying brand presence. Budget it as brand, or attend and host a side event.

Sponsors we interviewed set their Dreamforce target as pipeline worth several times the all-in cost, and judge it at 90 days and again at 6 months, because enterprise opportunities open late. The event ROI calculator runs this with your numbers, and B2B event cost per opportunity explains each input.

OptionWhat you pay forWorks when
Sponsor with a boothVisibility, a base for meetings, often a meeting roomYour target accounts attend in volume and you can fill the meeting calendar
Attend with a side eventPasses plus a dinner or reception near MosconeYou have 20 to 50 named accounts to host and a smaller budget
Attend onlyPasses and travelYou are testing the event before a sponsorship year

At an event this size, a booth visit is easy to forget. One RevOps leader told us that a prospect asked about a booth visit there will answer, “I probably did.” Side events book better meetings when the invite names the account and the room is small, and a quiet room near the venue works for demos. Event dinners and side events that book meetings covers how to fill one.

Make Dreamforce pay back

The attendee list is the hard part. Salesforce does not hand attendees a list of who is coming, and sponsor teams we interviewed describe getting registrant data close to the event, followed by a rush to match it against their Salesforce accounts.

Checklist
Have these ready before Dreamforce
  • Target accounts likely to attendMatched from last year's sponsors, speakers and your own customers.
  • A meeting goal per repAgreed with sales before outreach starts.
  • Outreach from the people who will attendNamed sender, named place and time.
  • A side-event invite listSenior buyers at open opportunities first.
  • A capture plan for the floorWho logs each conversation, and where the note goes.
  • The Dreamforce campaign in SalesforceMember statuses and pipeline fields set up before the event.
  1. Before: Luminik ranks the Dreamforce attendee list against your ICP weeks ahead and loads it into your reps’ Apollo, Outreach or Salesloft sequences with the side-event invite. Enrichment runs on the data vendor you already use.
  2. At the event: reps capture every conversation as it ends, with the voice note and the Salesforce account, owner and open opportunities on screen.
  3. After: sourced and influenced pipeline lands on the Salesforce Opportunity, per event, so the cost per opportunity is a CRM number before the 2028 budget meeting.
